Carvin is pleased to add another new finish to our extensive lineup of Custom Shop options.  Deep Triple Step Orange is a beautiful new finish that is a deep, burnt-orange shade which looks great on our AAAA flamed maple and AAAA quilted maple top woods.  It's available on any Custom Shop guitar or bass with a flamed maple or quilted maple top.  It can also be combined with blackburst edges.

Deep Orangeburst

The deep triple-step process is a technique designed to produce a near three-dimensional look in the figuring of flamed maple or quilted maple tops.  The first step is to stain the body with a color ranging from umber to black (depending on the final color ordered), and then sand the finish off, leaving dark highlights in the wood grain.  Then the proper stain coat is hand-applied, which varies depending on the final color.  Last, the top translucent color is applied, and finished with clear gloss.  The end result is a stunning, deep finish unlike the finishes seen on most guitars.

There are 12 other standard deep triple step finishes to choose from, available on flamed or quilted maple (shown on quilted maple below).  The DTS option can be added on many other translucent finishes Carvin offers.
